Mr. Dinesh Kumar Khara, Chairman SBI
Mr. Dinesh Khara is Chairman of the country’s largest Bank – State Bank of India. Having joined the bank as a Probationary Officer in 1984, he has rich experience in all facets of Banking. Before assuming office as Chairman, Mr. Khara has held several key positions in SBI such as MD (Global Banking & Subsidiaries), MD (Associates & Subsidiaries), MD & CEO (SBI Mutual Funds) and Chief General Manager – Bhopal Circle. He was also posted at Chicago for an overseas assignment.
As Managing Director, he led the International Banking Group, Large Corporate and Treasury operations in addition to the non-banking subsidiaries of the Bank viz., SBI Cards, SBIMF, SBI Life, SBI General etc. He also seamlessly executed the merger of five erstwhile Associate Banks and Bhartiya Mahila Bank, with SBI. Additionally, he also headed the Risk, IT and Compliance functions of the bank at various points.
Mr. Khara is a postgraduate in commerce from Delhi School of Economics and an MBA from FMS, New Delhi. He is also a Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB). Mr. Khara is passionate about reading and has travelled extensively across the world.
Mr. Ashwani Bhatia
Mr. Ashwani Bhatia, Managing Director (Corporate Banking & Global Markets)
Mr. Ashwani Bhatia is Managing Director of the Bank since August 2020. In his current role, he looks after Corporate Banking & Global Markets verticals.
Mr. Bhatia has experience of over three and a half decades in the State Bank Group. Prior to his assignment as MD, Mr. Bhatia was MD & CEO, SBI Funds Management Pvt Limited. Before joining SBI Funds Management Private Limited, he was working as a Chief General Manager, Corporate Centre, where he revamped credit structure and processes of the Bank. Some of his other positions in the Bank include Chief General Manager- SME, General Manager (Heading retail operations of Haryana, HP, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab and Chandigarh), and various others in Network Banking, Credit, Investment Banking and Asset Management. He has spent more than a decade in the Bank’s treasury operations, holding position of DGM (Forex), DGM (Interest Rates), AGM & Chief Dealer (Equities). Mr. Bhatia has also had a stint with SBI Capital Markets as President & COO. He has also served as dealer at Tokyo in the Japan Operations of the Bank.
Mr. Bhatia started his career with us in 1985 as a Probationary Officer. He is a Graduate in Physics & Mathematics from Dayalbagh University, Agra and is an MBA from Podar Institute of Management, Jaipur.
Mr. Ashwini Kumar Tewari, Nominee Director
Ashwini Kumar Tewari is a career banker and started his career in SBI in the year 1991 as a Probationary Officer. Presently, he is the Managing Director of State Bank of India handling the portfolio of International Banking, Information Technology and Associates & Subsidiaries of the Bank. Prior to becoming Managing Director at SBI, he served as Managing Director and CEO of SBI Cards and Payment Services Ltd.He has been a part of State Bank of India, India’s oldest and largest banking group, for almost three decades now and has handled several assignments for the bank, across various locations in India and abroad.
As MD & CEO of SBI Cards, he oversaw key partnerships inked with GPay, PayTM, BPCL etc and steered the company through the immediate aftermath of the Covid period.
Earlier, he was the Country Head of the US Operations of State Bank of India from April 2017 to July 2021. This included its offices in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington DC and Sao Paulo (Brazil). Prior to that he was the Regional Head and General Manager, East Asia, for SBI. Based in Hong Kong, he oversaw the business development and control of State Bank of India, in Hong Kong, China, Japan, Korea and the neighbouring region.
Over the years, he held other leadership positions at State Bank of India, including, the Deputy General Manager, (Operations & Information Systems), International Banking Group, Mumbai, Head of SBI’s Cash Management, Regional Manager, Branch Head, among others.
An electrical engineer by degree, he is a Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB), Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and has done a Certificate Course in Management from XLRI. He also served on the Board of International Institute of Bankers, New York, and the Board of University of Washington Global Bankers Program.
Philosophy based on the principles of authenticity and bringing about meaningful change keeps him motivated in life. Mr. Tewari is a keen reader, with special interest in Indian history, science fiction and literature. An avid jogger and cricket enthusiast, when free Mr. Tewari loves listening to old melodies of Kishore and Rafi.
Mr. Arun Mehta

Mr. Arun Mehta has been appointed as Managing Director & Chief Executive Office at SBI Capital Markets Limited (SBICAP) in January 2020. Prior to his appointment at SBICAP, Mr. Mehta was the Chief General Manager– Financial Control at the State Bank of India (SBI) Corporate Center, Mumbai.
Mr. Mehta has over 34 years’ experience in banking, having started his career with SBI in 1985. Mr. Mehta has handled various assignments both in India and overseas, across various functions, gaining wide experience in different areas of Banking. His assignments include Vice President (Syndication & Investment) at Hong Kong, Dy. General Manager (Merchant Banking) in International Banking Group handling ECBs, FCTLs and Loan Syndication, General Manager- Mid Corporate Group Ahmedabad responsible for the State of Gujarat as also Diu and Daman and Chief General Manager, Financial Control in the CFO vertical.
Mr. Mehta is a Post Graduate in Economics and Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers.
Shri. Mohan Harshey, Independent Director
Shri. Harshey is an independent director on the board of SVL. He is a postgraduate in Physics from IIT Bombay and a certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers.
Shri. Harshey conceptualized and led the efforts in successfully raising the Tata Capital Innovations Fund in 2009. He was Partner of the fund till he superannuated in June 2015.
He has vast experience in investments, merchant banking, SME & Corporate lending and private equity.
Shri. Harshey was the head of domestic treasury at State Bank of India (SBI). In his long stint of 31 years in SBI, he held various assignments in India and United States. During his tenure in treasury, he also started Private Equity business.
Mr. B.R.S. Satyanarayana
Shri. B.R.S. Satyanaryana has over 33 years of banking experience, having started his career as a Probationary Officer with State Bank of India in 1988. He has held various positions both in India and overseas, across multiple functions.
Prior to assuming charge as President & Chief Operating Officer of SBICAP with effect from 4th June 2021, his roles included Chief General Manager of International Banking – II, managing bank’s network in Asia, Africa &. Australia. SBI is the largest Commercial bank in India with over 22,000 branches. As the head of International Banking-II, responsible for driving SBI’s business which include Institutional Sales, Loans & Advances, Liability Products, Trade Finance and Payments Products in the allocated geographies. Headed Financial Institutions Group (2018-19) controlling the 235 correspondent Banking relationships and Money Laundering Reporting Officer for the International Banking Operations. He held the position of Country Head and CEO of SBI Japan Operations (2012-2018).
During the period 1988 to 2010, he had held assignments spanning various facets of retail, agriculture and Small Businesses, Investment management of Pension funds, resource mobilization and their deployment
He has a Master’s degree in Financial Service Management and is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers.
Shri Naresh Yadav joined State Bank of India as a Probationary Officer in 1985. He is a Science faculty graduate and Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers. He has been associated with SBI for 34 years and has managed various responsibilities in multiple roles like Head Human Resources – Delhi Circle, DGM & Circle Development Officer – Mumbai, Head Business & Operations – West Zone (Mumbai), Head Mid Corporate – Regional Office Kolkata, Network Head – Kolkata and Deputy CEO – Jio Payments Bank.
Mr. Suresh Kozhikote has been appointed as Managing Director & Chief Executive Office at SBICAP Ventures Limited (SVL) in June 2020. Prior to his appointment at SVL, Mr. Kozhikote was the General Manager- Private Equity at the State Bank of India (SBI) Corporate Center, Mumbai.
Mr. Kozhikote has over 33 years’ experience in banking, having started his career with the State Bank Group in 1987. Mr. Kozhikote has handled assignments both in India and overseas across various functions. He has been in treasury operations for more than 18 years – from a Forex dealer to Head – Treasury. His assignments include Vice President (Treasury) at SBI Central Treasury Hong Kong, Dy General Manager at State Bank of Patiala as Head of Treasury and then as Head of Retail Operations covering Delhi NCR, Haryana & Rajasthan. Also, as Dy. General Manager (Taxation), he was in charge of GST project in SBI. As General Manager- Private Equity, he managed SBI’s portfolio of Private Equity, Strategic Investments and Investments in AIF.
Mr. Kozhikote is a Commerce Graduate, a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers and has a Diploma in Treasury, Investment and Risk Management.
